Apple Watch 10 “X” Rumors, Expected Price, Features and Specs

Apple Watch X

Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 10 — also known as the Apple Watch X — next month. With this smartwatch, Cupertino will be in the industry for ten years. Although we had high expectations for the features of this future model, the latest speculations suggest that Apple will not celebrate this milestone as this new watch will only be a minor update, like the Apple Watch Series 9. Here’s everything we know about the product, including its features, price, release date, and compatibility with watchOS 11.

Which name will Apple give the upcoming Apple Watch? X or Series 10?

Before Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 9, there were some reports regarding a possible Apple Watch X. It didn’t make sense at the time, but perhaps Cupertino could produce an “X” version of its upcoming wristwatch in 2023, which would be the Nine. Several years after the original Apple Watch debuted.

The iPhone X, which celebrated the iPhone’s tenth anniversary, is likely responsible for starting the rumor. Apple changed the appearance of the iPhone and improved it with this update. However, a few people were misled by the “X” and referred to the model by its letter instead of the Roman numeral 10.

While I prefer the moniker “Apple Watch X,” Apple may prefer that consumers refer to its product by its official name, so “Apple Watch Series 10” seems more likely right now.

Price Expectations for the Apple Watch Series 10

For the previous few years, Apple has maintained the pricing of the Apple Watch Series line at around the same level. This implies that when the Apple Watch Series 10 is unveiled, we should anticipate paying a comparable price.

Right now, the GPS-only model of the Apple Watch Series 9 costs $399, while the GPS+Cellular model costs $499. With the Apple Watch Ultra line still retailing for $799, Apple is probably going to stick with this pricing range for the Apple Watch Series 10.

Although there haven’t been any significant leaks or rumors regarding the price of the Apple Watch Series 10, we shouldn’t anticipate anything that is extremely unusual.

Of course, Apple might raise the price if it so chooses if there are any notable design modifications or other enhancements. We’ll just have to wait and see for the time being.

Apple Watch Series 10 Rumors About Design

Although the leak hasn’t mentioned it yet, one thing is certain: the Series 10 will definitely continue to resemble its predecessor in terms of appearance. While minor adjustments and improvements are always understandable, we generally expect a stunning display, a range of sports bands, and a recognizable rectangular shape.

According to a Bloomberg story earlier this year, Apple is preparing to remake the Apple Watch for 2024. It is rumored that the business plans to make it even thinner, although a major redesign is quite unlikely.

It’s expected that the revised design — the exact degree of which is unknown — will be able to accommodate new features the watch is said to feature, including blood pressure monitoring and sleep tracking. Evaluation of (more on them later).

Analyst Ming-Chi Ko disagrees with this claim, saying that significant design changes are not expected for the Series 10.

What to expect from the Apple Watch Series 10 display specs?

The Series 9 display, which debuted before the Series 10 model, had a significant improvement over the Series 8 model in terms of brightness, reaching a maximum of 2,000 nits. We don’t expect a significant improvement in the Series 10’s display. It’s highly likely that we’ll get an always-on Retina display with minimal bezels, a screen that’s scratch and dust resistant, and a brightness comparable to the Series 9. We could see thinner display bezels if Apple decides to change the design and make it narrower, but as of now, nothing has really been confirmed.

Expectations for the Apple Watch Series 10’s battery life

There is no word yet on a battery life update for the Apple Watch Series 10. Although the Ultra models are quite different, Apple is maintaining the same battery life for its smartwatches, so an update would be much appreciated. It is uncertain, though, it will really happen.

The Apple Watch Series 9 has up to 18 hours of battery life and a low power mode that extends the watch’s longevity to 36 hours. Despite the existence of smartwatches with significantly longer battery life on the market, the situation with the Series 10 is unlikely to change.

Features and software of the Apple Watch Series 10: what is known thus far from rumors

For Series 10, this is where things get interesting. So far, Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman has been the source of all the rumors and predictions we’ve heard about this, and boy, are they interesting!

To begin with, the Series 10 is rumored to have blood pressure monitoring support. Apple has yet to add this capability to its wearables, despite the fact that Galaxy Watches have supported it since the Galaxy Watch 3 (the 3 only received a software update; officially, it premiered with 4). This time, it looks like it might happen.

It is said that the watch will have a new sensor that can detect rising blood pressure. There are rumors that the watch won’t display your accurate systolic and diastolic measures at first, but that a “follow-up” version will be available in the future. Additionally, we expect Apple to add a blood pressure journal function that allows you to record your experiences with high blood pressure.

Sleep apnea detection is the other new feature reported to be coming with the Series 10. Sleep apnea is basically a condition in which you stop breathing at certain intervals while you sleep. It can be fatal. According to reports, the function will be able to track your breathing and sleeping patterns and determine whether you have a disease or not. If the condition is suspected, it will likely recommend that you see a doctor again.

Both of these functions will probably make it onto the Apple Watch as Apple is big on the health side. Naturally, it’s still possible that they won’t be accessible at launch (like the double-tap gesture on the Series 9) or that Apple will determine that they’re not quite ready for a 2024 release. So, you cannot be absolutely sure. For now, we advise you not to expect too much and keep an open mind as there is still time.

While there have been reports of blood glucose monitoring, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the technology may not be coming this time. We don’t expect to see blood glucose monitoring on Apple watches in 2024 because it’s a complex technology that needs to be accurate. However, these rumors have been circulating for at least a few years.

Of course, the features we currently have are more than we expect. As such, features such as activities, fall detection, sleep monitoring, ECG, accident detection, and the like will probably be available on the Series 10 just like they are on previous models.

Watch OS 11 is now Announced

Apple unveiled watchOS 11 at the WWDC 2024 keynote, the operating system that will run the Apple Watch Series 10.

The Apple Watch has some great new features thanks to WatchOS 11. Tracking your workouts just got easier with the new Training Load Tracker, which calculates your effort score out of 10 based on your heart rate, elevation and speed. These days, the Vitals app monitors a number of health measures, including heart rate and sleep, and it generates weekly reports, noting any unusual patterns.

Additionally, the animated watch faces that you choose from your photos are a joy to use. SmartStack widget predictions have gotten better compatibility, and friends can now follow each other’s whereabouts with a new check-in function. Apple Watch is now even more customizable and useful thanks to these improvements.

Before the official release of Series 10, the new OS will undergo beta testing.

Conclusion: Should you Wait for Apple Watch Series 10 or Not!

If you’re interested in getting an Apple Watch but don’t currently own one, or if you’re wearing an older model, you should hold off. It is likely to have some interesting health features and will also get a redesign.

If you already own an Apple Watch Series 9, there’s no reason to wait. Chances are there won’t be enough of a difference between the 10 and the 9 to justify the upgrade. But, Apple can surprise us too, so we should keep an open mind.
